I had a great time in the studio creating new work for this lovely space in Northeast Minneapolis. Vivir and Centro are just across the street from Indeed Brewing and a host of other fun spots. The work is colorful, playful and hidden with meaning – just waiting to be looked into with a thoughtful and curious eye! Among the almost dozen new works, there are four pieces that focus on the ancient far East tale of The Moon Rabbit. The rabbit in this story offers his body in an act of sacrifice. There is no stronger way that love expresses itself in action. Do you know anyone who has given their life for others? 🙂 My haiku titles explore this further. Other work explores my visits to Israel and Egpyt by meditating on the fruit of the land: pomegranates, figs, dates, grapes, olives, wheat and barley. The abundance offered to us by these seven foods cannot be underestimated. What lies hidden within these? And there’s a few rabbits mixed in for good measure. Plus geraniums, hydrangeas, and citrus because spring is here and life has returned to the vine!
